K10 Technologies primary customer base is medical and legal. As a result federal security mandates are at the forefront as primary criteria for equipment selection to be implemented in these environments. For example HIPAA HITECH
Hardware
Servers:
HP DL 380 G Series are simply a time-tested, rugged platform that just run and do what they are supposed to do with minimal MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures)
Workstations/Laptops:
Dell Optiplex, HP Elitedesk, HP Envy and Dell Lattitude product lines are solid performers for all sizes of business requirements
Operating System/s
K10 Technologies only uses professional level operating systems (Windows, Linux or MAC)
Firewalls
The important aspects to keep in mind when choosing a firewall are logging and auditing capability. The primary question to ask is when a cyber incident occurs does the firewall have a robust enough logging and auditing trail capability to determine an backtrack what occurred. Firewalls capable of this are NOT purchased at common department or office supply stores and are not provided by Internet Service Providers (ISP’s). Multiple ISP vendors in the Tampa Bay Area will not allow you to log into the equipment that you pay them for. Get own own firewall that you control and accept accountability for.
Another criteria recently introduced into the decision making process is the country of origin for the parts that make up the firewall. “Assembled in America” does not mean an “American product”.

Switches
With network switches there is a short list of product lines that use:
Cisco 3750 series with POE 24-48 port
Mikrotik Cloud Series Switches POE 24-48 port
Smaller un-managed switches 5 – 8 port we recommend Netgear and TPLink Metal Case 10/100/1000 Mb/s
Wireless
Wireless products is a short list as well. Ruckus products provide a solid strong signal for long distances and are easily centrally managed by the Zone Director series of appliances.
